MEET THE CEO OF LUC MO WINES
Mmatlali Lucia Motloung
Education
Mmatlali Lucia Motloung holds a qualification from the
Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa, specializing
in Financial Accounting and Corporate Governance. She has
over 13 years of experience in the corporate governance sector

Work Experience
Ms. Motloung started her career as a Junior Bookkeeper in
Morrison Murray and was later appointed as the Admin Manager
of Woolworths Distribution in Durban. Her passion for
governance has enabled her to work in various markets,
including International Consultancy, where she helped in
installing Financial Systems for Organizations such as MTN
Uganda, Vodacom Tanzania and Vodacom Congo.
Motloung is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer and
Founder of Luc Mo Holdings which has two subsidiaries namely
Luc Mo Wines and Luc Mo Minerals. The business is a Black
Woman-Owned Company based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Her key focus areas in the Group and all its Subsidiaries are
Strategy, Business Development, Project Execution, Project
Management, Stakeholder Management, Governance and
Growth, among others.
She founded Luc Mo Wines as a division of Luc Mo Holdings in
2018 and started trading informally as an agent. In 2019
Motloung approached an established farm in Stellenbosch and
requested for partnership and mentorship. The addition of the
wine business became personal for Lucia when she realized that
process of producing good and quality wine resembled her own
life journey. As she explored the industry, Motloung realized that
there was a shortage of African Stories being told and later came
up with the idea of celebrating the African heritage through a
special wine range in collaboration with the Royals.
Leadership
In 2011, Motloung participated and graduated for the JCI (Junior
Chamber International) Japan Leadership Academy held in
Toyama, Japan. She became the National President of the of the
organization (JCI South Africa) in 2012. In the following year, she
served the same Organization at an international level as the
United Nations Commissioner for Africa and Middle East where
her role, amongst many others, was to promote the United
Nations Millennium Development Goals to JCI National
Organizations in Africa and Middle East. She is an alumni of
MINDS (Mandela Institute for Development Studies).
Innovation
Motloung’s innovative abilities has seen her creating a ground
breaking supreme wine collection called African Royals by Luc
Mo Wines™ concept and used her knowledge in the wine
industry to approximate the characteristics of the grapes with the
characters of the African Royals Principal Family Members.
Motloung uses her innovation and strategy talents to facilitate
innovative leadership and various training sessions, team
building sessions and high-level business programmes. She also
uses wine making methodologies as part of her facilitation
strategies and approach to help corporate clients. Motloung has
done work for big entities such as Eskom, Lesaka Technologies
(Listed Company) and Absa.
Motloung has also developed re-beneficiated products with
recycled minerals wastes to support the Luc Mo Minerals
development and innovative products.

Under Motloung’s strong business acumen and leadership Luc
Mo Wines made the following impactful strides;
Community Development
Motloung is a big believer of community development and started
an initiative called “The November Babies”. The programme is
aimed at encouraging individuals born in November to make a
difference in society. Together with fellow November Babies,
Motloung has managed to launch a mini library in Diesploot and
hike for change programme where hiking is used as a tool to
teach children about team work, leadership, resilience and
overcoming life challenges.
